Есть проблема! — [РЕШЕНО] - установка и запуск X11 на Gentoo
Доброе время суток,пытаюсь поставить X-server на Gentoo, но постоянно терплю неудачу. Устанавливал по gentoo-wiki.info/Xorg/Install. При попытке запустить иксы startx

Иксы ставлю впервые. Обычно пользуюсь Ubuntu с гуем и кнопачками, но хочется лучше узнать линукс. Так что, прошу помочь.

Иксы запустились через startx, но в логах ошибка (EE) NVIDIA: Failed to load module "dri2" (module does not exist, 0). Disable "Dri2" не помогает. Ставлю [РЕШЕНО], но прошу помочь доразобраться.

У меня с такой же фигней вроде одного xterm хватило. Подозреваю что если бы иксы запускали сразу какой-нибудь wm\de, то все это и вовсе было бы не нужно.

1. зачем сразу создавать xorg.conf? ведь последние иксы могут работать без этого файла.
2. на любом форуме вам могут рассказать как правильно смотреть логи иксов:
cat Xorg.0.log | grep EE
правда ведь стало удобнее?
из этого видно, что нету какого-то драйвера evdev. так почему бы его и не поставить? а потом еще раз посмотреть как стартуют иксы.

из этого видно, что нету какого-то драйвера evdev. так почему бы его и не поставить? а потом еще раз посмотреть как стартуют иксы.

поэтапно:
1. Икс-сервер пытается загрузить драйвер для NVIDIA (nouveau), но ничего не получается
2. Пытается загрузить vesa - не получается
3. Пытается загрузить fbdev - не получается
4. Ругается на отсутствие драйверов.

- установи драйвер nouveau и будет тебе счастье :-)

файл 20-nvidia.conf создается при установке проприетарных драйверов от nvidia, а в данном случае
X-сервер пытается использовать свободные драйвера (nouveau)

Отключить CONFIG_DRM и пересобрать ядрецо.
Ведь можно поправить конфиг на CONFIG_DRM=n и запустить make && make modules_install? Т.е. без make menuconfig. Прошу прощения, оно кажется логичным, просто не хочу за зря прождать время компиляции ядра...

Если написать # startx, а не # X, то запускаются окна. Честно, я думал, что в этом случае нет разницы.
Но тем не менее, запуская иксы через SSH, на главном мониторе появляются консольки и часики, что радует, а в SSH по прежнему вижу (EE) NVIDIA: Failed to load module "dri2" (module does not exist, 0).
Как от этого избавиться?

Установил драйвер, но такой папки и файла вообще нет. Я конечно создал..

И в make.conf еще в INPUT_DEVICES воткнуть evdev и nvidia в VIDIO_CARS, если вдруг еще не. И перекомпилять это дело еще.

xorg.conf.d был, но после неудач запустить иксы я его переименовал. Просто помнил что раньше у меня было просто xorg.conf.
Перед тем как перекомпилить, стоит удалять emerge -c, или это лишнее?

Не уверен, что я правильно выразился. Дело в том, что раньше если я хотел переустановить программу, я её удалял emerge -c curl, а потом заново устанавливал. Может удаление было излишне...

Пакет x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev тоже неплохо бы поставить, если еще нет.
Нечего иксы под рутом запускать.

То же самое, что и под рутом. Но это уже после установки xterm и twm.
советую прописать

Что-то ты заглох, касатик, завелось али нет? Коль завелось «решено» поставь.
Временно не имел доступа к компу. По началу думал прочитать ещё какую нибудь инфу про иксы. Потом навалилась куча житейских проблем, и генту пришлось отложить в сторонку. Ниже напишу, что я попробовал.
С таки вот make.conf я пересобрал (вроде и для себя неожиданно) все.
# cat /etc/make.conf
(emerge -eNu xorg-X11)
При запуске иксов...
# X
Иногда при запуске вижу на мониторе логотип nvidia, но все это пропадает через несколько секунд.
# cat Xorg.0.log | grep EE
Наверно я что-то пропускаю. Мне кажется, что я все установил. В /etc/X11/xorg.conf правда не прописано разрешение, но тут вроде говорят, что и без ксорга иксы должны включаться.

На гентувики есть статья с настройкой проприетарных дровишек. Конфиг все равно писать придется.

Я так понимаю не есть правильно, что директории /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ у меня нет..?
Создал. Просто по мне так это могло быть симптомом проблем с драйвером.
