Ни для кого не секрет, что если развернуть видео во весь экран (а так же изменить размер окна с видео) при включенных композитных эффектах с проприетарными драйверами от ati, получим фриз. А также, что в такой же ситуации очень медленно меняется размер окна. В arch это легко лечиться установкой пропатченных иксов =)


Для i686:Добавляем репозиторий archiso-live в /etc/pacman.conf:

Удаляем непропатченную версию:

yaourt -Rd xorg-server
Ставим:

yaourt -Sy xorg-server-catalyst-maximize-fix
Универсальный метод заключается в установке из AUR пакета xorg-server-catalyst-maximize-fix. Для i686 лучше использовать готовый бинарный пакет, так как меньше мороки с зависимостями для сборки
Теперь можно спокойно смотреть видео при включенных эффектах, да и вообще, нормально пользоваться системой =)

Если у вас не arch, то достаточно преобразовать бинарный пакет под ваш дистрибутив, либо самому пропатчить и сделать пакет.

PS изредка могут наблюдаться небольшие артефакты

Посмотрел последнее сравнение на фороникс и как-то оно мне не понравилось, решил провести своё.
Полное сравнение

Используемые версии: catalyst 10.6, xorg-video-ati 6.13.99~git20100613, core avc 2.0.0, mplayer-vaapi-20100602 для xvba, mplayer 1.0~rc3+git20100617 для остального, libva1_0.31, xvba-video_0.6.11.

mplayer-full и mplayer-sum - сумма нагрузки двух процессов, создаваемых mplayer'ом, сравнение по процессам:

Его вывод перенаправлялся в файлы. Когда использовался просто mplayer, файл бился на чётные и нечётные строки. Потом содержимое файлов вставлялось в OOo Calc и там строились диаграммы.

В итоге самым "менеенагружающим" процессор оказался coreavc, но он платный. Примерно на его уровне держится xvba, ну а победитель по мнению фороникса xf86-video-ati+xv оказался аутсайдером.

При загрузке компа до загрузочного меню GRUB всё пучком, в параметрах загрузчика выставлено vga=0х31а, что соответствует по таблице выделенному параметру:

Как выставить резолюцию для radeondrmfb?

С проблемой борюсь со дня выхода openSUSE 12.1
При этом на лаптопах, как моём, так и друзей/родственников всё нормально независимо от видеокарты (intel, nvidia, ati)

Вопрос с резолюцией решён:
В строке параметров ядра при загрузке надо вместо параметра vga=ххх указать
video=разрешение@частота

это влияет на консоль, но не повлияло на разрешение KDE login screen

Остаётся открытым вопрос, как изменить разрешение логин эрана на вменяемое(желаемое)?

Разобрался и с логином:
надо в /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-device.conf
прописать вот это:

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "1024x768"
EndSubSection
EndSection

Есть вопрос!Видеокарты ATI под Linux - работоспособность и состояние драйверов

Как-то так сложилось что у меня всегда под рукой были видеокарты NVidia в последнее время, поэтому в работе под Linux ATI пощупать не удавалось уже больше года. На то время с драйверами ATI было всё плохо - тормозило и глючило, чтобы хоть как-то вменяемо работало - требовался непростой танец с бубном вокруг файла xorg.conf, причем с обоими вариантами - открытые и закрытые дрова ATI.



А с дровами NVidia со временем всё дела идут лучше и лучше.



Хотелось бы уточнить у сообщества - как дела с драйверами AMD/ATI под Linux обстоят на сегодняшний день?

Есть вопрос!Открытый драйвер ATI и compiz

Решил перебраться на открытый драйвер ибо он уже поддерживает все то, что мне необходимо. Но, столкнулся с проблемой неработающего compiz'a, по причине, того, что модуль glx прописанный в xorg.conf отказывается подгружаться. В чем может быть проблема?

Есть проблема!Зависание ноутбука при работе от батареи

Система: arch linux, catalyst 9.8, kernel 2.6.30



При работе от батареи, при маленьком простое (где-то минута), система зависает. На «магический» REISUB не реагирует.



Если работать без иксов, или даже в консоли по ctrl+alt+F<1—6>, то всё нормально.



Подскажите что может быть. В каких логах смотреть?

Друзья вилинуксойды, посоветуйте!

Собираюсь покупать новый ноутбук, так как старый уже не справляется совсем с рабочими задачами.

Просто я работаю в ентерпрайз-джава, так что машинка нужна мощная, и значит, сравнительно дорогая. А тут как раз подвернулось _очень_ выгодное предложение в кредит.

Но есть один момент, из-за которого я немного сомневаюсь.

Есть проблема!Ati, 3d на открытых дровах

Кто нибудь получал нормальное 3d ускорение на открытых дровах с многострадальным чипом r6xx (или может r7xx)? Опишите свой опыт, пожалуйста, очень хочется не дерганных эффектов в kde и opengl по возможности (compiz не предлагать - он у меня почему-то сколько себя помню не компилится (Gentoo). Смену дистра вообще не рассматриваю)



Первое: на fglrx не посылать, у меня ядро .31-rc7 и молиться на проприетарные я не собираюсь.



Второе: не говорите, что это невозможно!!

Здесь я доказал, что это возможно. Но не все гладко и может, если кто еще не задумывался, попробует сначала также, как описано, а потом предложит что-нибудь еще...
